Project: Stokes monuments

Father and infant son reunited.

These two hand-carved black slate monuments sit side by side in an Upperville, VA cemetery.

In 1967, Richard Stokes' infant son William died. For fifty five years Richard held onto his infant sons cremated remains in his home so that he could be buried along with him.

The sunbeam between Richard's birth and death years represent the brilliant soul he was. The sunbeam on baby Williams monument honors the light and love he gave to his father.
