Memorial of a scholar, writer and prolific gardener
I’m sharing with you this small flat marker (30” x 20”) which will be shipped to California next week to honor a man who was a scholar, writer and prolific gardener. In working with this family, we drew on inspiration from an old Polish headstone which featured two Lions of Judah encircling a flower. We had our Lions each stand atop a stack of books, a nod to Michael’s vast personal library. Adding an epitaph on the top edge allowed us to not overcrowd the design on the front. The completed stone tells the story of Michael’s life. It is always a joy to see the final design come together as a one-of-a-kind monument.
Thank you for continuing to share our name with families that come to your cemetery looking for a beautiful monument to honor & remember their loved one.
With Love & Gratitude,
Karin Sprague
